First Edition

I've recently become a Blog addict. Even though I have a feeling I will struggle to populate my blog, I've decided to create one of my own. I will try not to talk too much about my dog or my upcoming wedding but it's probably an empty promise.

So here I go...

Easter is this weekend. I'm looking forward to watching my nieces search for easter eggs. I live about 4 hours away from them and have missed out on too much of their lives so far. The oldest (I'll call her Mini-A since she looks like a mini-me of my sister) is at that fun age - 2 1/2. Talking up a storm but only mom can fully understand what she says and loves to be the star of the show. Mini-A makes the holidays more fun and has a tendency to make us act more like children ourselves than usual.

One thing I'm NOT looking forward to is informing my aunt and uncle that they aren't invited to the very small wedding ceremony. We have decided to run away and get married in Napa Valley. The winery has a limit of 50. Between me and my fiancee, we have 15 aunts & uncles. We easily surpass the 50 limit just including them and our immediate families. Instead we have decided to invite only parents, siblings and a few friends. This will upset some family members and (lucky me) I'll have to deal with that this weekend. Ugh!

Another event I'm not really excited about is my step-brother's wedding this weekend. My father remarried when I was in my mid-twenties. There hasn't been much interaction between step-siblings over the years but since my sister (she is the good daughter) is going, I feel obligated to go too. Sometimes, doing the right thing SUCKS.
